How to make a frutinovela (AI fruit drama), step by step: from the cast to "To be continued"

A frutinovela is a short AI telenovela where the characters are people with a fruit for a head. Here is a real four-scene episode: each still next to its line, the prompts to copy, what went wrong, and what it cost.

A strawberry, a banana, a pineapple and a grape, each a person with a fruit for a head

To make a frutinovela with AI, you write a short story with a cliffhanger, make one still for each character and each scene, turn each still into a talking clip, and render the four scenes as one reel. The characters are whole people with a fruit for a head, and they talk to each other, not to the camera. We made one in Hook Studio, and this guide shows it as it happened.

Hook Studio is an AI reel maker that turns a chat into vertical videos for TikTok and Instagram. It has a Frutinovela format: pick it under Formats and type the story. The format sets the cinematic look, the fruit-skin characters, and the voices. This guide uses what it does as of October 29, 2026, including the failures. For the trend itself, see our post on frutinovelas.

The short version

Four scenes: an accusation, a denial, a twist, and a silent close-up with "To be continued...". One still per character, one per scene, one talking clip per scene of 8 seconds or less. Our episode, "It's your brother", ran 23.9 seconds and cost about 800 credits, about $7 on the Concept plan. The music goes on when you post.

What a frutinovela is (and what it is not)

A frutinovela is a short AI telenovela. Its characters are whole people with a fruit for a head: a human face on the fruit, and all their skin (neck, arms, hands, legs) in the fruit's color and texture, strawberry-red arms with seeds, banana-yellow hands. They wear clothes and live at human size in mansions, kitchens, hotel lobbies and churches. They talk to each other, not to the camera, and each episode ends on a cliffhanger. A fruit with a face sitting on a table is the older "talking fruit" video, not a frutinovela.

The word is new. In Google Mexico, "frutinovelas" had no searches before March 2026, then 49,500 in April, and 5,400 a month by July and August (DataForSEO, measured October 29, 2026). Episodes run from 30 seconds to 2 or 3 minutes depending on the outlet (El Colombiano, April 9; Espinof, May 13; EFE, May 10), and the stories run 2 to 5 or more parts (El Financiero, April 1). The most famous character, Banana Negra, comes from the @frutystory project, which reached almost a million TikTok followers in five weeks (EFE, May 10). The English cousin, Fruit Love Island, launched on March 13, 2026 (Wikipedia). We do not know who coined the word (Cultura Colectiva).

There is real criticism. Cenital (April 11) argues that the violence and misogyny drive the genre, and psychologist Silvia Álava (EFE, May 10) names the same two female archetypes. Our episode skips all of it: no violence, no sexualized outfits, and the twist is a family secret. For the glass-fruit ASMR cousin, see AI fruit videos.

How to make a frutinovela with AI, step by step

Most tutorials chain five or six tools: ChatGPT or Gemini for the script, Nano Banana or Midjourney for the characters, Kling or Veo for the clips, ElevenLabs for voices, CapCut for the edit (Milenio, April 10; educacionit, April 16). One episode takes 3 to 7 hours that way (tecnoapps; Iberoeconomía, April 11; El Independiente, April 20). In Hook Studio it is one chat. The steps are the same:

  1. 1Pick Frutinovela under Formats and type the story. The format sets the cinematic look, the fruit-skin characters, and the voices. Two lines are enough: who the fruits are and what happens.
  2. 2Make one still per character first. Cast first, scenes after. Every scene still takes the character still as a reference, so Valentina is the same strawberry in all four scenes.
  3. 3Make one still per scene and fix it before it moves. A still costs 11 credits and a clip costs hundreds. The realism check catches the extra table and the floating hand.
  4. 4Make one talking clip per scene, 8 seconds or less. Each line goes in quotes with who says it, the accent and a voice. Two characters can talk in one clip.
  5. 5Add text and render. A "Frutinovela · Part 1" label, "To be continued..." on the last shot, and the silent start of each clip trimmed.
  6. 6Add the music when you post. The clips carry only the voices. The signature song is "Kamin" by EMIN and JONY, a 2020 Russian ballad (Posta, April 23): pick it from the TikTok or Instagram sound library.

The 4-scene episode structure

SceneWhat happensIn our episode
1. The accusationSomeone shows proof. Two people, one room, one clip.Valentina shows a phone: "Who is Piñita?"
2. The denialThe accused lies and a third person walks in.Rodrigo: "She's my accountant." Piña arrives with a suitcase.
3. The twistSomeone with authority drops the secret.Abuela Uva: "Valentina is your sister."
4. Silent close-upNo words. Two faces and the text "To be continued..."Both cover their mouths.

The tropes are the usual ones: infidelity, secrets, love triangles and twists (El Independiente, April 20). The cliffhanger is the point: it is what brings people back for Part 2 (William Rico, El Imparcial, April 14).

Prompts you can copy

Replace the words in brackets. In the Frutinovela format you only type the story, and the format adds the look and the voices. If you use another format or another tool, paste these.

1. A character (the cast still)
A frutinovela character: a full person with a [fruit] for a head. A human face on the fruit ([eye color] eyes, long lashes, [expression]), and all of her skin (neck, arms, hands, legs) is the color and texture of the [fruit], with [seeds / skin detail]. She wears [clothes] and [accessories]. Full-body shot from the knees up, standing in a neutral bright room, 3D animated-film render, high-end quality.
2. A scene (with the character still as the reference)
A frutinovela scene: a telenovela where every character is a full person with a fruit for a head, and all of their skin is the color and texture of their fruit. Wide shot, knee-up, of two characters talking to each other in [place] in the [time of day]. [Name 1]: [her look, same as the reference]. [Name 2]: [his look]. [Emotion of 1] on her side, [emotion of 2] on his. Pixar-style 3D render, high-end animated film quality.
3. A talking clip with two speakers
Smooth, steady camera, no shaking. [Name 1] says in Mexican Spanish, in a hurt, trembling woman's voice: "[line 1]" Then [Name 2] says, in a smooth, nervous man's voice: "[line 2]" They look at each other, not at the camera. 8 seconds.

Milenio's tutorial (April 10) starts from a one-liner: "Estilo Disney Pixar, una fresa con vestido de gala en una mansión, 3D". It gives you a fruit in a gown. The line that makes it a frutinovela is the one about the fruit-colored skin.

A real session: the episode "It's your brother"

We made this episode in Hook Studio on October 29, 2026, with Kling 3 at 1080p, the default model, in the commercial style. The cast: Valentina (strawberry head, strawberry-red arms with seeds, cream silk blouse, jeans, gold earrings), her husband Rodrigo (banana head, black mustache, banana-yellow hands, white open-collar shirt, gold chain), Piña (pineapple head, golden pineapple arms, white pantsuit, sunglasses on her crown, pink suitcase) and Abuela Uva (one big purple grape for a head, grape-cluster curls, round gold glasses, pearls, black velvet dress, cane). The lines in the reel are in Mexican Spanish. Tap the speaker to hear them.

The whole episode: "It's your brother", Part 1
Valentina, a strawberry-headed woman with strawberry-red arms and a cream silk blouse
A frutinovela. Valentina, a strawberry, finds out her husband Rodrigo, a banana, has a lover. Four scenes in a rich family's mansion. It ends on a twist.

Here is the last scene: both of them cover their mouths. Each scene has its own still, and every clip starts from a still you approved.

Close-up of Valentina the strawberry and Rodrigo the banana, both covering their mouthsStill · 11 credits
Good. Make the four clips, and every one talks.

This runs when you approve:

4 clips · Kling 3 · 1080p · 726 creditsApprove

Your reel, 23.9 seconds: four scenes, the voices, a "Frutinovela · Part 1" label and "To be continued..." on the last shot.

Each scene: the still and its line

Valentina the strawberry holds up a phone in a mansion kitchen while Rodrigo the banana raises his hands
Scene 1, the kitchen. 8 s, 229 credits. Valentina: "Who is Piñita? And why does she send you hearts?" Rodrigo: "She's... she's my accountant."
Piña the pineapple walks in through the open door of a marble entrance hall with a pink suitcase
Scene 2, the entrance hall. 6 s, 172 credits. Piña: "Rodrigo, my love, did you tell her we're going to Cancún?"
Abuela Uva, a grandmother with a grape for a head, stands on a grand staircase with a cane
Scene 3, the staircase. 8 s, 229 credits. Abuela Uva: "Nobody is going anywhere. Rodrigo, Valentina is your sister."
Close-up of Valentina and Rodrigo covering their mouths
Scene 4, the close-up. 5 s, silent, 96 credits. Both cover their mouths. Text: "To be continued..."

Each clip is one prompt: the lines in quotes, who says each, the accent, and a voice ("a smooth, smug telenovela villain's voice", "a grave, raspy old grandmother's voice"). The model got every word right, in order, and the kitchen clip has two voices in one take.

What went wrong, and what fixed it

  • The first try was the wrong thing. It was a strawberry with a face sitting on a kitchen counter. It passed the checks, but it is not a frutinovela. The fix was in the prompt: whole people, fruit head, fruit-colored skin.
  • Organic vs commercial. In the default organic style (a phone photo), the realism check failed the fruit character. Frutinovelas need the cinematic, commercial style. The Frutinovela format sets it for you.
  • The table in the doorway. The realism check caught a flower table standing in the doorway Piña had just walked through, and a grandmother's hand floating over the railing. An 11-credit fix moved the table.
  • Motion blur. In the kitchen clip, a fast phone-style shake smeared into blur. Ask for smooth, steady movement.
  • "Head to toe" crops the feet anyway. Ask for knee-up framing.

Credits, plans, and what comes next

The Concept plan is $20 a month for 2,300 credits (about $0.0087 a credit), so one episode like this one is about $7 and the plan covers about three a month. New accounts get their first 500 credits for $3. For a cheaper test, make the stills and one scene first: stills cost 11 credits each, and you only pay for a clip when you approve it.

Money from the genre is thin for most: William Rico said he had no significant earnings (El Imparcial, April 14), and the Fruit Love Island creator reported about $4,500 of platform revenue for 300 million views (Iberoeconomía, April 11, a single source). Treat it as a way to learn the format and grow an audience. More formats are in the reel templates, and the glass-fruit cousin is in AI fruit videos. Hook Studio is not affiliated with TikTok, Kling, Pixar, or any account named here.

Frequently asked questions

How do you make an AI fruit drama?

Write a short story with a cliffhanger, make one still per character (a person with a fruit for a head and fruit-colored skin), then one still per scene, then a talking clip per scene, and render with text. In Hook Studio, pick Frutinovela under Formats and type the story.

What do I need to make a frutinovela with AI?

A story of 3 or 4 scenes, a still for each character, a talking clip for each scene of 8 seconds or less, and a sound to add when you post. Our four-scene episode took 6 stills and 4 clips, about 800 credits, about $7 on the Concept plan.

How long is a frutinovela episode?

Sources differ: 30 to 60 seconds (El Colombiano, April 9), 1 to 2 minutes (Espinof, May 13), up to 3 minutes (EFE, May 10). Ours is 23.9 seconds, four scenes, which fits a reel. Split longer stories into Part 1, Part 2.

Is Fruit Love Island the same as a frutinovela?

They are cousins. Fruit Love Island launched in English on March 13, 2026 as a dating-show parody. The Spanish-language frutinovela is a telenovela with a cliffhanger, and the creator of the main account says it came from a parody of La Isla de las Tentaciones (El Independiente, April 20).

Which AI tools make a frutinovela?

Common tutorials combine ChatGPT or Gemini, Nano Banana, Midjourney or Leonardo for characters, Kling, Veo or Hailuo for clips, ElevenLabs for voices, and CapCut for the edit (Milenio, April 10). Hook Studio does the stills, the talking clips, and the render in one chat.
