How to scale brand social media: post by hand first, then automate
Everyone wants five accounts on autopilot from day one. Accounts grow one at a time: by hand until a format works, then on the machine, then the next account.
Scaling consumer apps on TikTok and Instagram.

Everyone wants to do it all at once: open five accounts, connect a scheduler, and let the posts run. That isn't how it works. A new account has no format worth automating yet, and the schedulers themselves warn against it. Post Bridge, the scheduler in our content factory, tells its users to post by hand on a new account first.
So build the pipeline slow and steady. Start by hand on one or two accounts. Post, engage, and try formats until one works. Then move that format and that account to the machine, open the next account, and warm it up by hand. Repeat.
This is how Reddy, an AI assistant for real estate agents, runs its social media. Its Instagram, @tellreddy, found its format by hand and now runs on the content factory.
- 1Pick one or two accounts. Post by hand, from your phone.
- 2Engage: reply to comments, and comment in your niche.
- 3Try different formats until one keeps working.
- 4Move that format to the machine, and that account to scheduled posts.
- 5Open the next account and warm it up by hand.
- 6Repeat.
The pipeline
Every account goes through the same four steps. At any time, each one is either warming up by hand or running on the machine, and only one or two are ever by hand.
- 1Warm up by hand
Post from your phone, engage, and try formats on one or two accounts.
- 2Find the format
One kind of post keeps getting views, post after post.
- 3Automate
The format moves to the content factory, and the account to scheduled posts.
- 4Start the next account
Your hands are free again, so a new account starts at step 1.
Step 1: Start by hand on one or two accounts
One or two accounts, no more. The first weeks are daily work: posting, replying, and watching what lands. You can only do that well on one or two.
Post from your phone, in the app, the way anyone does. Post Bridge's warm-up guide says the same for new TikTok accounts:
Post manually from your phone - avoid any automation during this phase.
Engage
Reply to the comments on your posts. Comment on other posts in your niche, the way a person would. That's how you learn what your niche talks about, and it's work a scheduler can't do for you. For the first days on a new account, follow our account warm-up guide.
Try different formats
Don't pick your format on day one. Try a few and let the views decide: a skit, a POV, a trend remade for your niche, a viral clip recast with your own character, a carousel. Our reel templates and hook examples are good places to start, and Hook Studio makes each of them from one chat.
Test your first formats in Hook Studio: a skit, a POV, or a trend for your niche, from one chat.
Make your first reelStep 2: Know when you've found it
You've found a format when it keeps working: the same kind of post gets views again and again, and the next one does about as well as the last. One lucky post doesn't count. A format is something you can make again next week.
For TikTok, Post Bridge puts a number on it. Its warm-up guide says:
Only connect to Post Bridge after your videos consistently reach 500-1000+ views on average for more than 5 videos in a row.
And it says why:
Connecting to Post Bridge too early can result in poor performance that may be difficult to recover from.
Reddy's format on @tellreddy is agent-life skits: a recurring cast of characters, shot from angles a phone could film, with small text on screen only for what nobody says out loud.
Step 3: Move it to the machine
Once the format works, stop making it one post at a time. Make it in batches and schedule it. That's the setup in our content factory guide: Claude Code to work out the ideas with you, Hook Studio to make the reels, and Post Bridge to schedule them. In one session you can make and schedule days or weeks of posts.
Move the account to scheduled posts at the same time. The machine now makes the format you found, for the account where you found it. Post Bridge's guide adds one thing for new accounts:
Even after connecting to Postbridge, continue to post manually on new accounts once per week.
@tellreddy runs this way now. Its ideas sit on a Hook Studio board, the reels come out of the factory, and it posts about two a day. For what that did for Reddy's site, read how Reddy runs its content machine.
Step 4: Start the next account, by hand
With the first account on the machine, your hands are free again. Open the next account and start it at step 1: by hand, from your phone, trying formats.
It can be the same brand on another platform, or a second account for another audience. Start it with the format that worked on the first account, then try others. Warm up one at a time. Post Bridge's guide says:
It is recommended to only warm up one account per device at a time.
Repeat
Then do it again. Each round, one more account moves to the machine, and you only ever have one or two by hand. The pipeline grows slow and steady, and every account in it was proven by hand first.
Why all at once doesn't work
- There's no format yet. A machine repeats what you give it. Before you've found a format, it repeats guesses, on every account at once.
- New accounts and schedulers don't mix. Post Bridge tells its own users to post by hand first, and to connect only after the views come in.
- You can't engage on five new accounts. Replying and commenting are the daily work of the first weeks.
Frequently asked questions
How many accounts should I start with?
One or two. Add the next one when one of them moves to the machine.
How long does an account stay in the manual phase?
Until a format keeps working. For TikTok, Post Bridge's guide says to post by hand for the first week, and to connect the scheduler only after more than 5 videos in a row average 500 to 1,000+ views.
What counts as engaging?
Replying to the comments on your posts, and commenting on other posts in your niche the way a person would. For a new TikTok account, Post Bridge also suggests scrolling your niche for 15 minutes a day before the first post.
Does this work on Instagram and TikTok?
Yes. Reddy runs it on Instagram, and Post Bridge's numbers are for TikTok.
What do I need for the automated part?
Claude Code, Hook Studio, and Post Bridge. The content factory guide covers the setup, the commands, and the costs.
Find your format, then put it on the machine
Test formats in Hook Studio while you post by hand, and keep making the winner once it moves to the content factory.
